Dr. Nemeth has spent the vast majority of his professional life in the study and practice of law, security and justice, and since 2012 has combined his legal activities with a deep interest in all aspects of general security and homeland security as Professor and Chair, Security, Fire and Emergency Management at John Jay College, City University New York. He is also Director of the College’s Center for Private Security and Safety.

A recognized expert on ethics and the legal system, privatization and private-sector justice, he also is a prolific writer. Chief among his many works are Homeland Security, 3rd (CRC Press, 2017), Private Security (CRC Press, 2018) and Private Security and the Investigative Process, 4th (CRC Press, 2019). He has been an educator for more than 35 years. He holds memberships in the New York, North Carolina and Pennsylvania bars. Dr. Nemeth was previously a Chair at the State University of New York at Brockport and California University of PA- one of Pennsylvania's 14 State Universities. He is a much-sought-after legal consultant for security companies and a recognized scholar on issues involving law and morality.
