In 2013, after 38 years combined service in HM Armed Forces and the Metropolitan Police Service, Michael moved from a highly successful career at New Scotland Yard as the OCU Commander of the only dedicated Counter Terrorism Protective Security Command (SO20) in the UK, into a Group Head of Operational Security and Intelligence role in a multi-national financial institution.
Prior to his role in the corporate sector, Michael was the Senior National Protective Security Liaison Officer (SNPSLO) for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As part of his role, Michael authored, developed and delivered the London Olympic Counter Terrorism Protective Security Strategy, which involved extensive UK and global interagency collaboration, particularly with US Government, Federal Agencies and Police Forces worldwide.
In 2013, Michael was awarded his Doctorate, for his research into the use of Counter Terrorism legislation and powers in protection of the communities of London and the United Kingdom. In addition, Michael has a Masters Degree in Business Management. Michael is a Freeman of the City of London, Member of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals, Chartered Manager and Fellow of the Chartered Managers Institute, Executive Board Member of ASIS and a Fellow of the Security Institute.
Since leaving the Metropolitan Police, Michael has held a number of strategic management and leadership positions in multi-national Financial, Scientific and Security organisations. In 2015, Michael launched a bespoke Risk and Crisis Management Consultancy (6E Consulting Ltd) working with several global organisations, in a wide range of sectors, including Cultural, Media, Sporting,
Governmental and the Third Sector. Michael specialises in identifying, creating, supporting, mentoring and exercising their executive leadership and crisis management response and resilience teams.
In 2017, Michael undertook the role of Global Risk and Crisis Adviser to a global motor racing organisation and continues in this role today. Since 2017, Michael has provided risk mitigation analysis and on-site crisis management advice in over 30 countries worldwide.
Michael has authored several papers and articles for leading industry journals and is currently engaged on a number of high profile Industry related Boards, Advisory Panels and Not-for-Profit Community and Industry Projects.
