Dr Rita Parker is a Europa Fellow, at the Centre for European Studies, Australian National University and an Adjunct Associate Professor, University of Canberra (UC). She formerly managed the Australian Centre for Armed Conflict and Society, University of New South Wales (UNSW) at the Australian Defence Force Academy. Prior appointments included as Distinguished Fellow (Associate Professor) at George Mason University (GMU), USA (2009-2014), Visiting Fellow UNSW Canberra (2011-2016). Dr Parker also held senior policy advisor roles in Australian Federal Government departments (including Prime Minster and Cabinet, Defence, Attorney-General’s) and to State governments, where she established her expertise in international transnational security and resilience issues. Dr Parker’s contribution has been sought in high level policy forums such as the EU-Australia Leadership Forum sectoral policy workshop on the rules-based international order.

Rita is co-editor of Global Insecurity: Futures of Chaos and Governance (2017) and her research has been presented internationally and published in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters in Australia, Germany, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and USA; she also writes for professional journals.
