OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

Design, develop, implement and supervise the strategies for the correct operation of the talent attraction processes, benefits for employees, training and organizational development, ensuring the standardization in time and form of formats, processes, policies, controls, indicators and levels of service; in all plants in Sonoco Colombia

DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES OF THE POSITION:

• Directs development, planning, implementation and/or administration of HR policies, procedures, and programs for one or more areas of HR.
• Ensures that policies, procedures, and programs are consistent with company HR strategies and systems and state and federal employment law.
• Ability to understand business goals and recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in business objectives, productivity, and development of HR within the company.
• Directs ongoing update of the company’s HR policies, procedures, and programs.
• Ensures quality operations of human resource processes.
• Keeps abreast of industry trends to ensure that HR policies, procedures and programs are competitive.
• Works closely with executive management in HR policy and program matters, making or recommending appropriate decisions as consistent with strategic direction.
• May manage HR activities for a department, operating division, or subsidiary.
• Successfully defines workflows, jobs, and reporting relationships to obtain optimum effectiveness.
• Experience with rapid and complex changing work environment
• Being an enthusiastic team player with a strong drive to create a positive work environment
• Coaching and mentoring at management level
- Success in creating and driving effective development, employee relations, retention and reward programs
• A strong solution focus and be comfortable working in an environment which demands strong deliverables along with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions.
• Area of responsibility has significant strategic impact on the overall success of functional or division operations. Often is required to create/conceptualize new systems, programs, or products with significant business impact
• Develops and manages departmental budgets and business plans for the largest and most complex projects or directs a functional area for a medium to large division.
• Has full latitude to create and conceptualize policies/programs for area of responsibility or products and to forecast their impact; Analyzes effectiveness of policies/products and establishes future direction for functional policies and programs or products that affect company as a whole; Aligns policies/products and development efforts with company strategies.
• To continuously monitor and assess employee morale, provide feedback to management, and develop strategies to enhance overall employee performance
• To drive talent management, ensuring stores are appropriately resourced and that a pool of talent is readily available to fill positions as the company grows.
• To implement career management and succession planning with Develop and Organizational Manager.
• To provide direction, guidance and support to management related to company’s disciplinary process.
• To support management in monitoring employee performance, ensuring employees are coached and counselled where necessary.
• Responsible for diagnosing organization issues, developing solutions and implementing action plan. Committed to building good and harmonious employee relations, including handling trade union relations, participating in collective bargaining, dealing with labour disputes.
• Identifies resource needs with complete authority to approve identified needs.
• Acts as an advisor that troubleshoots and resolves extremely complex problems within multi-departments and/or cross-functional areas.
• Approves organizational structures and supervisory relationships in a functional area or division.
• Responsible for overall success of function or project within multi-departments and/or cross-functional areas.

Requirements

• Demonstrates full understanding and application of management approaches for work direction, motivation, and performance management
• 10+ years of successful experience in a directly related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above.
• Fluent English
• Bachelor's Degree required in HR or related field
• Experience supporting hourly employee client groups
• Experience leading and developing HR and Operations professionals
• Knowledge of employment laws
• Ability to travel 50%
• Experience with MS Office, Workday
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
• Experience in Labor Relations and compensation management
• Prior experience leading, coaching, and mentoring direct reports and leading HR teams with talented HR professionals
• Powerful and confident communication skills with the ability to effectively present to all levels of the organization
