Roberto Manunta was born to be a risk management specialist, being the son of renowned risk management academic, teacher and writer Dr Giovanni Manunta. Roberto holds a degree in Economics and Politics from the University of Bath, and a MSc in Military Operational Research from Cranfield RMCS, Shrivenham, UK. He has lectured at the MSc in Corporate Security Management at Cranfield RMCS, and at the MA in Intelligence and Security at Link Campus University of Malta. He is a former Member of ASIS International and AIPROS (Associazione Italiana Professionisti della Sicurezza), Advisor to the Colegio de Detectives Privados de Catalunya, and Member of the Editorial Committee of Puzzle, Revista de Inteligencia Competitiva.

His professional experience includes over 15 years as an international strategy and security consultant for a range of public and private organizations, including governments, police forces, nuclear, pharmaceutical companies, law firms and financial institutions. He writes on a wide range of security-related subjects, including terrorism, security and decision-making, as well as specialist research in the areas of Operational Research, Game Theory, System Thinking and Military Strategy.
